According to Chapter 4, Section 4.5 (2), no building shall be altered, added to, or redeveloped without prior approval from Eko Atlantic City Management Limited (EACML). This permit ensures that any modification to an existing structure maintains compliance with the City’s planning, safety, and design standards while preserving the integrity and uniformity of the built environment.

Developers intending to make alterations must submit a formal application as per Appendix EE (Request for Alteration to Building). The submission must include essential technical documentation, such as as-built drawings and stamped alteration drawings prepared by certified consultants. These must be accompanied by structural reports and calculation notes verifying that the proposed changes will not compromise the building’s stability or load-bearing capacity. Additionally, a Civil or Structural Engineer’s undertaking is required to confirm supervision of the alteration works.

Compulsory Requirements

To apply for an Alteration and Addition Permit (ABP), the following are mandatory:

  1. Formal Application (Appendix EE)
    • Completed and signed “Request for Alteration to Building” form.
  2. Supporting Documents
    • Alteration Drawings (Architectural, Structural, and MEP) stamped by certified Consultants/Designers.
    • As-built Drawings of the existing structure.
    • Peer Review Report validating the alteration works for compliance.
    • Letters of Appointment of the Supervising Consultants.
  3. Technical and Structural Documentation
    • Calculation Notes and Structural Report confirming the existing structure’s ability to bear additional loads (if applicable).
    • Civil or Structural Engineer’s undertaking to inspect the works.
  4. Payment of Applicable Fees
    • A processing fee based on the extent/scope of alteration or addition (refer to Chapter 13, Section 13.6).
  5. Declaration of Authenticity
    • Signed declaration confirming all documents and data provided are true and genuine, with penalties for false submissions.
